We are looking for an inspiring and dedicated ‘FIRST’ Robotics Teacher & Coach to join our exciting and developing new high school. We are seeking someone who is looking for the challenge and flexibility of developing an award-winning robotics program that is both taught in the curriculum and coached as an extra curricular club. In the teaching position, you use your passion for robotics to inspire and teach higher-level content connected with FIRST Robotics principles and as a coach, not only keep up but enhance student passion for robotics, and lead the team through the FIRST Robotic competitions and other events. Stratford students are all high-achieving, motivated, and innovative students looking to grow and make an impact. In our rookie year, we won 2nd place in our League championship. Through practice and competition, guided by seasoned coaches, students will build fundamental skills in engineering, design, and programming. If you are excited about this opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our student's lives, we encourage you to apply.Primary Responsibilities:Committed to the well-being of students.Develop and teach courses expertly with the highest standards for each student that challenges students, supports diversity, and demonstrates a strong commitment to student success.Convey enthusiasm for intellectual inquiry and model lifelong learning, designing instruction that emphasizes critical thinking and real-world problem solvingKeep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.Support the development of the Stratford Robotics program, maintaining quality coaching, and continuing to educate on best practices.Scheduling and organization of competitions.Training and enforcing the proper storage and safe usage of all equipment.Supervising and training students on the design, building, operation, and maintenance of the robot.Managing and keeping track of team finances and budgets.Developing a sense of responsibility, leadership, and ownership of the robotics program amongst students.Creating a cohesive and positive team spirit to support a safe and productive learning environmentFostering an innovative problem-solving culture.Seeking out mentors and industry experts to support the team.Serving as a positive role model for students.Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion of people and programsQualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:Experience in coaching robotics at the middle school, high school or college levelA bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in a field of study in or related to Robotics/Math/EngineeringStrong knowledge of robotics, including but not limited to knowledge of construction, engineering, metal and woodworking, programming, CNC routers, power tools, 3-D printers, laser cutters, computer vision, and electronics preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience teaching the craft of writing and research within the disciplineA willingness to try innovative teaching strategies and formats. Ability to implement differentiated learning/instruction as required.Prior participation, coaching experience, or a combination of the two in roboticsPositive personality to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community membersEagerness to build supportive relationships with students in and beyond the classroomA commitment to continuous professional growth and an enthusiasm for lifelong learningAn ability to create and promote an inclusive learning environmentStrong organizational and time management skillsCompensationThe full-time equivalent salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000.
