Spotsylvania County Public Schools is Hiring an Instructional Technology Aide (ITA) School Year 2024-2025 Near Fredericksburg, VA

Job Summary:
The ITA is a member of the Instructional Technology team responsible for providing high quality, reliable and consistent instructional technology customer service to teachers, students, staff, and families throughout Spotsylvania County Public School campuses. The ITA supports multiple sites and is skilled to function as the first-responder to end users' concerns and issues related to hardware, software, applications, and infrastructure. The ITA's daily work includes support and service that relates to instructional technology, hardware, software, and data (information) systems.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Employ exceptional customer service competencies as well as effective, efficient, and proficient interpersonal communication and support skills.
  • Provide technical maintenance and support to students, staff, and families (if appropriate) that includes but is not limited to computer workstations, mobile devices (tablets, cell phones, etc), instructional and administrative software applications (local, network, web-based, etc), audio/video resources (projectors, smart-boards, clickers, etc), and various peripherals (printers, scanners, cameras, etc).
  • Submit, track, and maintain an accurate log of work orders throughout the entire lifecycle of a technology issue.
  • Monitor local area network resources and perform basic network troubleshooting to diagnose, isolate, and provide feedback to higher level support.
  • Provide support and train users on various technology resource usage, applications and best practices [i.e.: logging in, printing, file management, email, etc.].
  • Install, configure, and maintain approved applications and re-image workstations when needed or as periodically required.
  • Ability to interpret and efficiently execute a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Provide "light" network administration and security to include user account management, email distribution lists, virus/malware detection and removal, file system management functions such as file purges, directory moves, etc.
  • Report misuse of technology resources to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all computer hardware & software and reports all technology equipment damage and/or loss to school administration.
  • Communicate and work cooperatively with all instructional technology services staff as well as instructional and administrative staff.
  • Assist in developing, purchasing, and maintaining the school's technology supply budget.
  • Complete tasks independently with little or no supervision. Self starter. In addition, works cooperatively with other IT colleagues in synchronous, non-synchronous ways.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or GED certificate with computer training or experience with Local Area Network support.
