Spokane Produce, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Food Production Worker in our Commercial Kitchen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Food preparation, as directed;
• Properly labeling and handling of all ingredients and product;
• Completion of all required paperwork and documentation for produced product;
• Cleaning and sanitation of food preparation areas and equipment;
• Stock rotation and inventory, as required;
• Bring product from warehouse to kitchen area and take completed product back to designated area in warehouse for shipment;
• Possible using computer or other electronics for certain processes;
• Washing dishes using USDA approved method and returning clean dishes to specific location;
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED
• Must be able to work independently or as a team when required
• Must have current Spokane County Food Handler's permit or obtain one within one week of employment
• Good communication skills and ability to multi-task
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
• Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices, including appropriate safety equipment apply.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time, as well as climb stairs, climb ladders, and walk kitchen and inventory floor frequently.
• Works in several different rooms that must comply with USDA/FDA regulations for food processing and packaging. Room may be ambient temperature or as low as 33-35 degrees.
• The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals; and bending, reaching (up and overhead), and crouching.
• Must have command of all five senses, sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from work product to close forms.
• Strength: Must have the ability to lift and carry, push, and pull 20 pounds with regularity, up to 50 pounds occasionally; rarely heavy lifting is required from below waist level to overhead.
• Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English; complete required paperwork for product being produced.
Shifts will start at 7:00am. The successful candidate will work Monday-Friday and have reliable transportation.
We offer competitive compensation of $16.50 to $17.00 per hour, depending upon experience and will be paid via direct deposit twice per month. Our benefits package includes discounted employee in-house purchases on the first day of employment; medical/dental/vision/life and disability insurance first of month after 60 days of employment; paid vacation after 1 year and 401k with employer match after 6 months of employment.
All candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen, and continue to satisfy our drug testing policy if offered employment. We are a Federal Contractor and drug free workplace, which includes a prohibition on marijuana use for all employees.
