The Organization

Spokane HOPE’S mission is to teach and support children from birth to age 5 who are deaf or hard of hearing so they can listen, speak, learn, and thrive. We achieve this by providing the highest quality, early intervention services through in-home therapy and parent coaching, toddler groups, preschool, and itinerant listening and spoken language services at public school districts.

Responsibilities

Leadership

· Envisions HOPE’s future as the premier deaf and hard of hearing educational provider in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho

· Motivates internal and external stakeholders to actively engage in HOPE’s strategic plan for mission achievement.

· Demonstrates growth mindset to develop and sustain a positive team culture.

· Exudes confidence in public speaking engagements and group collaboration.

· Develops and maintains a strong team that is accountable for day-to-day functions and ensures that activities are consistent with HOPE’s mission.

· Demonstrates assertiveness in decision-making yet maintains an open-door policy for employees and stakeholders.

· Demonstrates integrity through commitment and accountability and builds trust through communication.

· Provides support to the Leadership Team with close collaboration with Education Director, Development Director, Program Director, and Early Intervention Coordinator

Represents and promotes HOPE in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.

· Continually seek opportunities to build and enhance donor relations, financial stewardship, and resource management.

· The Executive Director will seek out and participate in appropriate continuing education.

Program Development

· Promotes HOPE as the leading resource for children with hearing loss in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.

· Monitors and evaluates programs and services to children and families, ensuring that all short- and long-range plans are developed to maintain the high-quality services HOPE is known for.

· Ensures continued, timely professional development offerings for all program providers.

· Prioritizes and creates collaboration time for program providers.

· Identifies professional partnership opportunities, including medical providers, universities, state, and national professional organizations. Develops internal capacity and time for program providers to participate as representatives of HOPE.

· Maintains relationships with university and medical personnel to promote research and collaboration.

· Ensures compliance with all licensing and accreditation guidelines annually.

· Participates actively within the OPTION Programs network to ensure best practices in developing listening and spoken language skills in our students at HOPE.

· Developing a high touch approach to all parents and/or guardians. Plan limited availability on site to briefly interact with parents during the school year.

Organization and Management of Staff

· Ensures the development of a strong and effective team that works as a cohesive unit in the achievement of program objectives through ongoing evaluation, coaching, training, and professional development.

· Reviews and develops employee and organizational policies.

· Conducts performance reviews of leadership team.

· Collaborates with Education Director on performance reviews for Program employees.

· Maintains salary schedule guidelines to ensure appropriate movement of salaries for individual positions.

· Actively pursues opportunities to improve operations and effectiveness through collaboration with the Leadership team.

· Oversees building facilities and maintenance needs including technology.

Board Relations

· Provides appropriate and timely communication, information, and briefing materials to the Board in carrying out their range of governance responsibilities.

· Ensures that Board Members are kept abreast of all relevant information about HOPE activities.

· Communicates monthly with Treasurer, providing monthly financials.

· Schedules all board meetings, proposes the agenda, in collaboration with the Board Chair, and distributes meeting materials to members as needed.

· Attends all quarterly Board meetings, special Board meetings and additional Committee meetings, as necessary.

· Attends monthly executive committee meetings.

· Actively supports the Board with efforts to expand membership and committee duties to enhance effectiveness of the board.

· Actively recruits individuals for prospective Board membership.

· Assists the Board President or designee with On-boarding new members.

Financial and Administrative Management

· Oversees the ongoing implementation of effective financial and administrative systems and ensures the most effective utilization of financial resources within established budgets.

· Develops annual budget for Board consideration.

· Reviews monthly financials to anticipate potential income and expenses, not limited to monthly cash flow forecasting.

· Collaborates with administrative assistant and contracted accountant for formal financial reviews, maintaining compliance with record- keeping and financial transactions.

· Procures employee health insurance plans; medical, dental, vision.

· Reviews and approves payroll.

· Manages 401(k) retirement plan.

· Identifies ways to increase revenue via contracts, expand contractual services, and oversight of financial portfolio through communication and collaboration with Finance Committee/Board of Directors.

· Ensures compliance with the State of Washington requirements through timely annual renewals.

· Point of contact on all state, government, and legal contracts or services.

Fundraising

· Identifies, cultivates, and solicits donors.

· Demonstrates support of Development Director and team to drive successful implementation of fundraising events and campaigns.

· Ensures development activities are in line with HOPE’s mission.

· Ensures excellent verbal and written content on all media platforms.

· Aids the Development Director in planning and oversees the production of all fundraising events.

· Attends all fundraising events.

· Supports grant process in collaboration with Development Director and Program Directors, including identifying program needs for grant requests and gathering data for grant reports.

Marketing and Communications

· Oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications program and strategies that support the achievement of the goals and objectives of HOPE.

· Provides on-site tours and off-site presentations to educate the public about the effects of hearing loss on language development and the unique role that HOPE plays in helping children with hearing loss learn to listen and talk.

· Demonstrates effective delivery of organization mission and knowledge of services through public speaking.

· Identifies opportunities for community networking with other non-profit leaders.

· Maintains oversight of all social media platforms for accuracy and consistent content.

Working Conditions

· Able to provide own reliable transportation.

· Able to lift/carry materials or equipment to set up and deliver community presentations.

· Able to lead or attend evening or weekend meetings, as needed.

· Able to independently travel locally and nationally, as needed.

· Able to safely navigate center and potential development projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

· BS/BA degree required.

· Listening and Spoken Language experience as Teacher of the Deaf, Speech Language Pathologist, Audiologist, and/or Executive Director preferred.

· A minimum of 3 years of management/leadership experience preferred with multiple direct reports.

· Non-profit experience preferred but not required.

· Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s collaboration systems.

Compensation:

· Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000
