Description

Sports Medicine North, a multi-specialty orthopedic practice north of Boston, has an exceptional opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant to join its team in Peabody and Newburyport, MA. The Physician Assistant will provide clinic and OR support to the orthopedic surgeons. This well-regarded group of 22 sub-specialty trained physicians offers a highly collegial and supportive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs complete physical exams, obtains complete medical history and records findings
  • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan
  • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
  • Performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
  • Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines
  • Instructs patients/families regarding medications and treatments
  • Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention, surgical procedures and expectations in perioperative period
  • Actively supports patient safety program; adheres to applicable patient safety standards including NQF Safe Practices
  • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation as necessary
  • Conduct post-operative evaluations
  • Minimal hospital rounding / call responsibilities
  • Performs necessary administrative duties consistent with role including EMR and billing inputs
  • Identifies emergency situations and uses sound judgement in instituting established procedures to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner

  • Monday-Friday schedule (40 hours)

Requirements:

  • Board Certified PA
  • Massachusetts licensure
  • Orthopedic/internal medicine experience preferred; new grads welcome to apply
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
