Spectrum Generations is Hiring a Per Diem Registered Dietitian Near Augusta, ME

Purpose

To provide nutritional care and education to multiple agency programs. Considers special dietary needs and food preferences of program participants. Advises the organization on menu planning and coordinates with agency Sous Chef to ensure quality of meal services and that participant nutritional needs are met.

Works closely with other leaders to ensure home-delivered meal (HDM) and congregate dining consumers at high nutritional risk are supported. Additionally, works with the community to support diabetes education programs accreditation and instructing the public on self-management, nutrition therapy, and resources.

Duties:

  • Menu planning for Home-Delivered Meals and Congregate Dining
  • One-on-One Medical Nutrition Therapy
  • Evidence-Based Programs; workshop facilitation
  • Developing and delivering Nutrition Education materials for distribution and for presenting to small groups
  • Working with a team to develop innovative programs to meet the current and future needs of our communities.
  • Knowledge Required by the Position:
  • Ability to analyze, identify programmatic problems and recommend solutions to management.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based programming (EBP), training techniques, and adult learning styles.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovations towards improving the operations and delivery of services.
  • Ability to self-direct daily work.
  • Ability to lead, teach, and effectively manage groups.
  • Ability to develop a collaborative, therapeutic alliance with individuals.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Must have current Maine licensure as a Registered Dietitian (RD).
  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field required.
  • Credentialed as a Certified Diabetes Educator or eligible to become a Certified Diabetes Educator.
  • Minimum of 18 months (about 1 and a half years) experience, preferably more, providing diabetes education and 15 contact hours within the past year in diabetes and chronic condition management.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in coordinating health and wellness program delivery preferred.
  • Must maintain 15 hours of continuing education annually specific to diabetes, diabetes related topics, and behavior change and self-management education strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge about current diabetes self-management.

This position has a flexible work location. You can work in any of our 6 centers across Central Maine, or you can work in a hybrid capacity. Travel to job sites for trainings, meetings, classes, and counseling sessions would be required as needed.
