SUMMARY

Position reports to the Human Resources Manager. Assists in the design and administration of Human Resources policies and procedures. Prepares internal employee communications regarding employee relations, company policies, employment, compensation, training and benefits. Possesses high degree of knowledge of commonly-used Human Resources concepts, practices, and procedures. Promotes the delivery of effective Human Resources services. On occasion, may lead and direct the work of others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assures that company employment, safety, employee relations, employee, and equal opportunity policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws, including the maintenance of necessary files, etc. (Title VII/EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, EPA, ERISA, HIPPA etc.)

  • Provides guidance and counsel to managers, supervisors and employees on a variety of issues to include employee relations, conflict resolution, interpersonal communications, effective group interaction, performance management, etc.
  • Evaluates general employee relations and work-related issues and meets with supervisors and managers to determine the appropriate course of action for issue resolution.
  • Conducts necessary investigations which include fact finding from all involved parties to make determinations of significant importance, course of action required and minimize potential employment related risk to the Company.
  • Researches, assesses and constructs responses to agency charges. Conducts unemployment hearings, acting as employer representative to support Company’s position.
  • Trains managers, supervisors and employees on HR program changes and procedures.
  • Knows and supports Company policies to enable effective coaching to supervisors in following the discipline and discharge process and other related HR processes.
  • Ensures all records, logs and files are maintained to meet regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, conducts and or facilitates the administration of exit interviews to determine reasons for separations.
  • As instructed, prepares offer letters for exempt, non-exempt, and temporary employees. (May be requested to extend job offers).
  • Monitors employee Headcount, Turnover Reports, and Requisition Reports, compiles data, prepares and distributes reports as requested.
  • Answers employee questions regarding the hiring, transfer, interviewing, and the job application process, and processes employee change-of-status forms.
  • Facilitates recruiting activities including; recruiting, hiring, sourcing, job descriptions, and internal job postings. Processes all internal and external applications, resumes, and transfer requests, and assists applicants and department heads with internal job placement. Conducts pre-employment, reference and necessary background checks.
  • Drafts and publishes Company policy, procedures, handbooks, and internal communications.
  • Administers company 401K, benefits, and Human Resources information Systems.
  • Contacts and establishes professional relationships with various Recruitment Agencies and companies.
  • Performs a wide range of analysis, support and ensures alignment between compensation programs, compensation strategy and business strategy.
  • Participates in market surveys and analyses results to determine Company’s competitive position.
  • Manages employee performance evaluation process.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS

  • Bachelors Degree required. Advanced Degree a plus.
  • 15 years previous Human Resources Experience.
  • Professional Certification a plus.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual must be able to demonstrate strong understanding of federal regulations related to Human Resources applications. Basic financial skills and understanding of budgetary applications required, project management skills is a plus. Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and management in a team oriented environment. Proficiency in arithmetic, Microsoft Applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) with an emphasis on spreadsheet preparation, a working knowledge of World Class Human Resources programs, excellent communication, motivational and organizational skills. This position also requires the ability to understand all policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position which are written in English. In addition, the individual must be able to appropriately respond to these and, where needed, provide reports, presentations, information and communications in English. Must be available to work days, evenings, or weekends, overtime, and travel domestically and internationally as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to read, comprehend and interpret policies, labor laws and federal regulations. Must be able to understand and apply SDI documentation including SOP, MI, PS, PMP, MSP, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the office and manufacturing areas. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of moving from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in DSSA Inc.’s manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas, communicate with others, and detect or exchange information or ideas. The employee occasionally is required to perform functions which require the manual operation of both general office productivity and manufacturing equipment as well as the ability to place, reach, detect, ascend/descend, and position self to navigate within confined working spaces. The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. The employee must occasionally move or transport up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close inspection, identification of objects from a distance, color determination, peripheral detection, depth judgment, and the ability to identify details in varying conditions.
