Industrial Mechanic Duties & Responsibilities

SpanSet is seeking a proactive safety conscious mechanical technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience using a bearing press, reading mechanical blueprints, driving a forklift, working with pneumatic machinery, industrial machines, electronics, and hydraulics. The ideal candidate should be able to work with minimal supervision, has experience with computerized maintenance managements systems (CMMS), and maintains proper paperwork.

• Preventative Maintenance: Assisting with and performing routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery in optimal condition.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnosing and fixing minor breakdowns promptly.
• Leadership and Coaching: Guiding and training team members on the production line.
• Quality Surveillance: Ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Safety Adherence: Prioritizing safety protocols.
• Mechanical Work: Perform work on gears, belts and other mechanical parts of machinery.
• Motor and General Maintenance: Lubricating and aligning motors. update all maintenance needed.
• Electrical: Basic understanding of electrical wiring and read basic diagrams.
• Effective Communication: Good oral, reading, and writing skills for clear communication.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Possessing a natural understanding of mechanical systems.
• Tool Proficiency: Furnishing and maintaining a basic set of tools.

Industrial Mechanic Qualifications

• Education: Typically, employers prefer candidates with relevant degrees such as Associate and High School Degrees in Technical, Industrial, or related fields.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as Maintenance certification, may be required.
• Skills:
  • Safely operating hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with computer operations and applications.
  • Knowledge of construction industry practices.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of industrial electricity and belts.
  • Machinery lubrication techniques.
• Experience:
  • Physical endurance for prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Comfort working from ladders, lifts, or elevated platforms.
  • Proficiency in performing mechanical preventative maintenance and repairs.
