We are seeking a Summer Intern to join the SP Risk Management team, an amalgamation of claims, safety, and risk management professionals in a broad array of roles. Our mission includes reducing operational risks, protecting the financial interests of the company, and managing the total cost of risk.

Responsibilities

• Generate and reconcile key metrics, and provide analysis for the department. 
• Complete tasks for maintaining documents, spreadsheets, databases, or related items.
• Participate in strategy meetings and prepare data for annual policy renewals.
• Review and monitor insurance documentation required for all aspects of SP endeavors. This includes assembling and communicating information in agreements to internal and external parties and ensuring their compliance.
• Assist Safety function in creating and distributing loss control material to operational stakeholders.
• Conduct research by compiling and analyzing risk management data, and provide value-add recommendations.
• Prepare informative reports which define, establish, and analyze KPIs.
• Gain experience in navigating property, casualty, and management liability insurance and surety markets.
• Shadow Broker, Actuary, Claims Administrator & Attorney and Underwriter.

Qualifications

• 3.3 GPA
• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree concentrated in Risk Management & Insurance or a related field.
• Driven personality with the ambition to learn the functions of corporate risk management.
• Experience working with data, interpreting the results, and making recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Experience with other data manipulation tools is a plus.
• Demonstrable campus involvement/leadership.
• Ability to work full-time in our downtown Chicago Office for 10 weeks, starting in early Summer (hybrid work model).
