Southwestern PA Eye Surgery Center is Hiring a Certified Central Service Technician Near Washington, PA

Job Overview:
Southwestern Pennsylvania Eye Surgery Center is looking for a part-time skilled and detail-oriented Central Service Technician to join our team. We are a busy-privately owned ambulatory surgery center that specializes in ocular procedures, such as cataracts, retinal and oculoplastic. The Central Service Technician performs and participates in decontamination, cleaning assembling, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Our facility currently preforms surgeries every Tuesday and Thursday as well as two Wednesday’s per month. The ideal person would be able to work all of those surgery days. No weekends, holidays or swing shifts.

Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process:

a. decontamination

b. prep, pack, sterilize

c. documentation of sterilization and sterile storage

including remediation of equipment failures and hazards

2. Provide integrity and sterility of products and services

3. Work in conjunction with the OR staff to provide timely sterile

products

4. Maintain consistency and continuous workflow between OR

and Central Supply.

5. Operate and maintain sterilizers, keep records of loads

completed, items of loads and maintenance procedures

performed.

6. Operate and maintain decontamination equipment.

7. Monitor surgery schedules daily, identifying general, specific

and potential needs for all cases.

8. Operates and maintains steam autoclaves, keeping records of

loads completed, items in loads, and maintenance procedures

performed.

9. Monitor and maintain appropriate records to remain compliant

with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as reporting

occurrences immediately to supervisors.

10. Attend in-service presentations, including but not limited to

infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS

and OSHA standards.

11. Report defective equipment to supervisor or staff.

12. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
* Central Service Technician Certification

* Current BLS certification

* One (1) year previous Central Service or Sterile Processing

experience preferred

* Yearly continuing education in sterile processing
