Objectives of this Role:

• Lead and support investigation of system-level and microscale plasma and field properties, to understand cross-energy and multi-region coupling responsible for energization/acceleration throughout the magnetosphere.
• Participate in MMS spacecraft data analysis.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Participate in and carry out original research in space physics data analysis using MMS measurements.
• Publish original research and results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and present results at scientific meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Lead the analysis (in parallel) of ion data from the HPCA instrument, and field and wave data from the FIELDS suite.

Requirements:

• Requires a PhD in Space Physics
• 0 years: Proven expertise in analysis of ion pitch angle and phase space density distributions, and of electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves including single-value decomposition and wave-event identification in the H/He/O frequency bands.
• 0 years: Demonstrated ability to program in software tools such as IDL (preferred) and Python.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required
