Southwest Michigan Dermatology is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Saint Joseph, MI

Southwest Michigan Dermatology is growing! We are a state of the art, fast paced medical practice where quality care and attention to detail are critical. The field of Dermatology is ever evolving and so are we. Join our team of providers and staff who take pride in improving the health of our community.
The ideal candidate will have diverse experience as a Medical Assistant and love working with all ages as well as working in a team-oriented environment. Primary responsibilities include rooming, assisting with procedures, phone triage, and tracking inventory. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
The practice has an exceptional reputation in the community and the right candidate will possess the professional talents to join our team and help us serve our patients and their families with compassion, care, and concern.
This position requires candidate to interview and train for 3 months in our Portage, MI location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Rooming patients and updating pertinent health information in the electronic medical record.
Assisting with procedures under supervision of providers.
Entering the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
Preparing and sending documentation to physician for review and approval.
Assisting with basic lab and screening procedures.
Working collaboratively with providers and coworkers in providing exceptional care to our patients.
Core Competencies:
Ability to learn and appropriately apply basic medical terminologies and techniques taught and used on the job.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to observe and draft a narrative account of events accurately, logically and grammatically correct.
Keyboard proficiency and ability to operate a computer and related software applications.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and quality patient care.
Ability to multitask and coordinate multiple projects and patients.
Ability to communicate and interact professionally with others.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand with mobility for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift, hold, push, and pull up to 20 pounds.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to read, write legibly, and comprehend through listening and speaking.
Ability to proficiently operate a computer and laptop.
Position may require work at more than one local location during a scheduled work week.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma required.
Must have valid CMA, RMA, or CCMA required.
AAMA Certified.
Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 - 36 per week
