Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, California
, is a licensed 122-bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission. It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county-designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year, and has an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region’s only Total Joint Center.

Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California
, is a 120 bed acute-care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children’s emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family-friendly private suites. Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children’s.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Serves as a resource for the clinical staff in the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to perinatal care during initial orientation and on-going competency evaluation. Develops and coordinates educational courses and ensures critical competencies are completed for new hires and experienced nursing staff.
  • Develops and reviews policies and procedures to promote evidenced-based practice principles.
  • Plans and implements educational programs in conjunction with the Women’s Center manager and Department Director. Coordinates monthly in-services, journal club, including article review for the perinatal population.
  • Reviews patient/family education material and act as a resource for discharge teaching.
  • Participates in Multidisciplinary High Reliability Unit meetings, and staff meetings to encourage and promote staff attendance and participation. Ensures mock codes are facilitated within the unit on a monthly basis.
  • Conducts Perinatal classes to promote knowledge for staff from needs assessment, quality trending, and new national or state standards.

Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
  • Must have an understanding and knowledge of educational techniques and principles of adult learning.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, leadership and ancillary department staff.
  • Must generate enthusiasm for learning and professional growth among employees.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility and the ability to work with a variation of hours to provide education to all the various clinical shifts in all departments.
  • Preferred knowledge in working with PowerPoint, Excel, email and the electronic medical record.

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
  • Three years of clinical experience in perinatal nursing care.
  • Three years of experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in the acute care setting

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
  • BSN Required
  • Master’s Degree Preferred

REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current Registered Nurse license to practice professional nursing in the State of California.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current NRP certification.
  • Current AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (within 90 days of hire)

  • Office space is adequate for desk, computer, and library supplies.
  • Desk, computer stand, and chairs are ergonomically correct.
  • Office is adequately lit and ventilated.
  • Classroom and educational materials are accessible and help is provided when moving heavy equipment.
