Southwest Counseling Solutions is Hiring a HOUSING COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST Near Detroit, MI

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housing Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the housing files for various rental subsidy programs administered by Southwest Counseling Solutions. Housing file compliance includes but is not limited to ensuring that all required documentation is current and meets regulatory thresholds for new admissions and interim, annual and special re-certifications. The housing compliance specialist is a member of the team that includes the Lead Housing Compliance Specialist, the Permanent Housing Manager and other staff to ensure that the entire Southwest Counseling Solutions’ housing file portfolio is organized, standardized and audit ready.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s Degree in a social services related field or equivalent work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least one year’s experience working in property management and a subsidized housing environment or any combination thereof.
  • Work with homeless population preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite, Outlook and Google docs.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of rental assistance program guidelines and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of community resources
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a professional team
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Ability to engage homeless persons with mental illness
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and professionalism toward internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, organize and prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to work independently and assume self-direction
  • Ability to input data, organize and manage confidential documents and records
  • Ability to maintain cultural awareness and sensitivity to differing backgrounds

COMPENSATION:

$41,000 - $50,000 (Full-time/non-union)
