Southside Bank is Hiring a Trust Operations Manager Near Tyler, TX

Position Title:

Trust Operations Manager

FLSA Status:

Exempt, (E) 

Reports to:

Market President Wealth Management 

Summary of the Job:

Responsible for the oversight of Trust operations including but not limited to, daily operations, departmental projects, audits and maintaining compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee operations of the department and supervise appropriate personnel.
  • Oversee and promote the unification strategy and drive efficiencies in that effort.
  • Prepare various reports for the state and federal examiners and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Responsible for preparation and updates to the operations procedure manual.
  • Communicate with Portfolio Manager(s) as needed.
  • Report status of accounts as needed to Trust Officers.
  • Verify overdrafts and cash sweeps daily.
  • Balance daily and monthly reports from the trust accounting system.
  • Review and adjust asset information on trust department records as needed.
  • Implement new features of the trust accounting system.
  • Responsible for various projects as they occur.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery and security procedures for the various systems used by the department.
  • Oversee operation of department technology platforms.
  • Review performance of associates, monitoring workflow and providing training. 
  • Work closely with administration and IT departments.
  • Relieve all operations positions as needed.

Additional Functions:

  • Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of personnel.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve the goals of the financial institution.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Business Administration, Management, Finance, or Accounting majors preferred; 
  • A minimum of 2 years in a managerial role required, 3 years preferred.
  • Two to four years related experience in operations and/or training preferred.
  • CPA, JD, CTFA, or comparable designation preferred.

Necessary Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. 
  • Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to lead a team and oversee various projects for the department.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.

Physical Activity/Dexterity:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Physical Environment Demands: 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other internal and external offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.

Working Conditions/Environment: 

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
  • Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
