QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. Support Southgate Academy’s Vision, Mission and Goals.
2. Assists classroom teacher by working with a student one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce classroom instruction. May provide tutoring to students.
3. Monitors and supervises student behavior in classroom, during lunch, recess, and while moving around campus. Redirects student to stay on task.
4. Works with individual needs of students in the setting assigned – general education classroom, resource classroom, or self-contained classroom.
5. Removes student from classroom if student needs a break and provides other activities to redirect student behavior.
6. Due to the potential for access to confidential student information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed in the school.
7. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

1. High school Diploma.
2. Candidates must possess an AA or 60 semester college credits, or proof of a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment. Candidates not HQ at time of hire must be HQ within 60 days of hire.
3. Current CPR and First Aide cards are required.
4. Capable of working with children one-on-one and in groups.
5. Ability to relate to students, parents and teachers in a positive manner. Ability to build relationship of trust with students.
6. Skills and ability to perform the functions of the job to include: instruction, computer, basic academic matters, problem solving and managing work assignments.
7. Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
