Position Overview:
Diesel Service Technician, inspects, diagnoses and repairs diesel-powered vehicles and machines, like trucks, forklifts and trailers. Their main duties include running diagnostic tests on vehicles, replacing the vehicles’ engine, transmission, steering mechanism or braking system and test driving the vehicle to determine if they properly fixed the maintenance issue.
This position will involve working both within the shop and on the road doing service calls. A service truck will be provided to fulfil service jobs
that are located away from the store.
Responsibilities:
· Troubleshoot, Diagnose, and Repair Semi-Truck and Trailers to include but not limited to: Commercial Tires, HVAC, Brakes, Steering & Suspension, PM Inspections, Drive Train and Electrical
· Ability to drive a service truck (F-350) to an onsite location where guest is broken down
· Consulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
· Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
· Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
· Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
· Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts
· Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
· Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
· Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks
· Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
Skills / Education / Requirements:
· Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screens and physical
· Previous experience in technician history preferred but not required
· Minimum age requirement 21
· Must maintain a valid driver’s license at all times
· Pass a background check of SSN verification, DMV report, criminal background and work history
· General understanding of diesel diagnostics
· Any certification in automotive service preferred
