The opportunity

Southern New Hampshire University's traditional campus is seeking an Office Assistant to work for the Office of Residence Life. This position will serve as a receptionist with duties such as answering telephone calls and being a front-line office greeter. Other duties include computer work, making posters, and photocopying. Experience with office routines, confidentiality, and basic computer skills is preferred. Students will receive diverse projects and tasks from a Residence Life staff of 11.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet guests and create a welcoming front desk atmosphere
• Answer, screen, and forward incoming calls, or take messages
• Complete computer work
• Creating flyers, bulletin boards, and door tags
• Perform Data Entry
• Make photocopies
• Other projects as assigned by Residence Life Staff

Minimum Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an Undergraduate or Graduate Day program at SNHU

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous office experience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Positive and friendly attitude
• Dependability
• Creativeness

Learning Outcomes/Skills Learned:

• Ability to work as part of a team
• Execute quality customer service skills when working with a variety of customers both in person and over the phone
• Communicate the importance of basic customer service and problem-solving skills, and how they relate to their individual work style
• Utilize various written and verbal communication skills to work with both staff and students/parents, including handling conflict and difficult situations.

Work Hours:

Coverage is needed for during our open hours, 8am-6pm Monday-Friday.

Weekly Hours :

Hours per week varies depending on class schedules. Students work anywhere from 5-19 hours per week.
