The opportunity

As a Senior Instructional Designer you will work with subject matter experts and cross-departmental partners in the design, assessment, and revision of high-quality learning experiences. Your work will focus on Competency-based Education courses and will report to the Director of Learning Design.

You will be project lead for small teams, design service vendor partners, or contracted team members to conceptualize, scope, and collaboratively implement design, redevelopment, and revision projects. You will be engaged in the ongoing evaluation of performance and feedback of existing learning experiences and ensuring that learning experiences meet the quality standards of our frameworks.

This position is remote friendly #LI-Remote.

What you'll do:

  • Lead project teams and play an active role in the revision and design of high-quality, complex, scalable online learning experiences, managing the schedule and quality of each project and the relationships with each subject matter expert
  • Manage the work of remote contracted design service partners and contracted/contingent team members
  • Design high-quality assessments that assess evidence of learning for both formative and summative performances
  • Conduct ongoing quality reviews and data-informed assessments of learning experiences
  • Identify areas of improvement in instructional clarity, engagement, and learning pathways
  • Utilize metrics to implement strategies for increasing student success while maintaining academic quality, validity, and appropriate rigor following SNHU's curriculum framework
  • Develop collaborative relationships with other university partners to determine learning design specifications, identify possible solutions, and gain approval and agreement from other teams in design decisions
  • Provide regular operational reports on development projects, accounting for metrics related to design quality, delivery timelines, and project status.
  • Participate in several initiatives, providing strategic insight and regular communication updates to partners on the status of projects
  • Ensure that design documentation utilizes SNHU-approved templates and models to expedite the production process inside the learning management system
  • Make informed recommendations on learning experience changes and adjustments using performance data and instructor and student feedback or experiment with new standards and build specifications in collaboration with LMS experts where approved
  • Be a mentor and a leader for our team

What we're looking for:

  • Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology or related discipline
  • Five years or more of related design experience for online higher education
  • Knowledge of learning management systems and educational technology platforms
  • Familiarity with: MS Office Suite; ServiceNow, Google drive docs to support collaborative work; Teleconferencing software and platforms; Learning management systems; and E-learning authoring/publication tools (Articulate, Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Demonstrated experience in project-based assessment design and design models (gamification, immersive learning, project-based learning, competency-based learning, etc.)
  • Project management skills related to tracking project status, creating flexible workflows, identifying risks, and holding project partners accountable
  • Online, college level teaching experience
