Position Summary

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm, is seeking a full-time Director of Security to join our dynamic team in Las Vegas, NV.

The Director of Security will oversee all security operations within our prestigious luxury residential/community mixed-use building. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of security protocols, and the ability to create and implement effective security strategies to ensure the safety and security of residents, guests, and property assets.

Auric Symphony Park includes 324 studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments, approximately 14,500 square feet of retail and restaurants, and over 400 parking spaces that will be available to both residents and visitors of Symphony Park. The property features market-leading finishes, AA resort-style pool, resident lounge, fitness center and business center, and will provide a spectrum of upscale services, including concierge-level support, entertainment, social events and cultural experiences for residents.

This mixed-use community will be an exciting part of the 61-Acre master plan which includes the Smith Center Performing Arts Center, The Discovery Children’s Museum, The Cleveland Clinic Brain Health Center and a variety of restaurants, entertainment and shopping options. 

Primary Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of security personnel, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and professional working environment conducive to teamwork and collaboration.

2. Security Operations:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard residents, guests, and property assets.
  • Monitor security operations, including patrols, surveillance systems, access control, and emergency response procedures, to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and risk evaluations to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.

3. Emergency Preparedness and Response:

  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, crisis management protocols, and communication strategies.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and community stakeholders to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies and incidents.

4. Technology Integration:

  • Oversee the implementation and utilization of security technologies, such as CCTV cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems, to enhance overall security measures.
  • Stay abreast of emerging security technologies and trends, evaluating their applicability and potential integration into existing security infrastructure.

5. Community Engagement:

  • Foster positive relationships with residents, community members, and stakeholders, serving as a point of contact for security-related concerns and inquiries.
  • Organize community outreach initiatives, training programs, and neighborhood watch programs to promote safety and security awareness.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security operations, privacy, and confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to security incidents, investigations, and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of security personnel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, guests, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Sound knowledge of security principles, practices, and technologies, including CCTV, access control, and emergency response systems.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze complex situations, and make timely decisions under pressure.
  • Certification in security management (e.g., Certified Protection Professional - CPP) is desirable.
  • Experience working with local law enforcement agencies and emergency services is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Security Personnel

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or military experience.
  • At least 5 years of law enforcement experience with a federal, state or local agency and/or at least 10 years of hospitality security experience, with at least 5 years of management /supervisory experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • PI License or LVPD experience desired.
