Position Overview:

As an Optometrist at SoHum Health, the primary objective is to deliver outstanding eye care services by leveraging proficiency in contemporary techniques and equipment. This role is instrumental in enriching the lives of SoHum Health patients and customers through the provision of top-tier optometric care, emphasizing exceptional patient service, encompassing clinical diagnosis, treatment, and the adept management of visual and ocular disorders and diseases.

The Optometrist will have a keen understanding of the needs of rural communities and is interested in taking services to where the patients are through our mobile unit to reduce healthcare inequities caused by geographical barriers and transportation challenges. The commitment extends to surpassing expectations in Quality Assurance standards, business metrics, and associate management guidelines.

They must operate in accordance with the clinical guidelines set forth by the American Optometric Associate and the American Academy of Optometry.

Essential Functions and Competencies:

  • Proficiency with Modern Healthcare Software:
  • Navigate and effectively utilize contemporary healthcare software and electronic medical records systems related to eye care.

  • Educate patients on eye care procedures, treatment plans, and preventive measures in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Emotional Intelligence and Patient-Centered Care:
  • Demonstrate empathy towards patients and provide care that is centered around their individual needs and concerns.· Self-awareness and understanding one’s emotions· Empathy and the ability to recognize and respond to the emotions of others

  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during eye care procedures or patient interactions.

Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of clinical practice experience with current knowledge of Optometric technology and practices.
  • Valid California Optometric license
  • TLG California Optometry License within six months of hire
  • Valid TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent) level license in California
  • Use of specialized equipment for testing and diagnosis (automated equipment, Optomap, etc.)
