Overview:
Direct and sustain safe and secure work environments for employees working in Operations through an ongoing process of continuous improvement driven by Compliance Assurance Program Audits and 5S process improvement initiatives. Fosters a positive safety culture assuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations as well as conformance with Company safety compliance standards. Provides corporate and site EHS Leaders with program direction, management and support.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the compliance assurance program, auditing program, and manage Company compliance with OSHA, FDA, EPA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes Company programs, rules, and tools related to EHS, OSHA, and FDA compliance.
  • Ensure consistent and thorough implementation of EHS processes, policies, and programs to mitigate risks and potential Company liability.
  • Ensures all reporting and compliance tools are used appropriately across the nation and facilitates usage with site EHS Contacts as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with regulatory agencies (e.g., Federal and state OSHA, Public Health, etc.)
  • Ensures required periodic EHS/FDA/EPA inspections are performed, monitored, followed through, and documented.
  • Trains and coaches others to conform with OSHA/FDA/EPA deliverables (e.g., Audits, Follow Safety Rules, etc.)

Additional Primary Responsibilities:
  • Summarize status of the organization’s compliance with laws and regulations associated with EHS responsibilities to executive management.
  • Supports performance of risk assessments related to jobs (e.g., Job Hazards Analysis) and equipment, and develops/implements corrective actions to minimize or eliminate injuries and environmental impact.
  • Influences and promotes change management along with Operations and EHS Leadership.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, or related science or a combination of education and experience in the EHS field, and 20 years experience with at least 15 years of people leadership experience.
  • Must hold one or more certifications, CSP, ASP, REHS, or possess the ability to pursue credential within 2 years of hire date.
  • Must possess at least 10 years of experience in safety-related functions, such as developing/overseeing EHS compliance programs and Food Safety Programs.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards including OSHA, FDA, EPA, and Worker’s Compensation regulations.
  • Demonstrated competency with OSHA’s Life Critical programs applicable to SGWS.
  • Knowledge of federal and respective state employment laws, including a working knowledge of safety requirements for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) services, Worker’s Compensation, State Disability and Labor Relations.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and various EHS data management systems (e.g., Benchmark (Gensuite), Eneblon, Intelex, etc.).
  • Travel required up to 50%.

Physical Demands:
  • Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device.
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 25lbs.
