Safety Specialist II
Job Purpose
The Safety Specialist II is responsible for leading the Safety Accident Review (SAR) strategy for Asset Protection in support of reducing organizational exposure to general liability and select worker’s compensation claims. In addition to investigating accidents and documenting findings as part of the SAR strategy, this position is responsible for development and maintenance of aggregate reporting and dashboarding for department performance within this area. This role will also be responsible for the safety claims evidence retention program for the Asset Protection Operations Center (APOC). The Safety Specialist II acts as a primary contact with SEG’s Risk Management team and third-party provider(s) to escalate potential claims and provide evidence of such that are fraudulent, mis-represented, or subject to subrogation in order to reduce organizational exposure.

Conduct thorough Safety Analytics Reviews (SAR) into all general liability and select associate accident investigations completed by stores. Ensure store-related evidence is retained within APIN investigation and documented appropriately. Digitally preserve all CCTV-related video evidence based on determined retention periods and storage requirements.

Develop and maintain the Asset Protection Operation Center’s performance reporting and dashboards within the APIN for the SAR program. Ensures that reporting analytics support timely closure of SARs and prioritize workload for the AP Ops Center team designed to reduce financial exposure that could be caused by delays in store reporting or evidence retention. Construct routine reports for review with the Director of Safety to action on stores with delays in accident investigations or lack of evidence. Maintain a constant line of communication with Regional Safety Managers to escalate opportunities or trends identified within store accident investigations.

Meet with Department leadership, Risk Management and third-party provider(s) to discuss quarterly SAR performance, including aggregates of SAR classifications sent by the APOC to Risk Management. Provide quarterly financial reporting detailing SAR counts and financial performance. Identify trends within classifications by quarter, identifying opportunities to enhance the overall SAR and store accident investigation program.

Lead the continuous improvement of the Safety Accident Review process. Update APIN data fields, program training components, procedures, and make policy recommendations based on needs or changes within the business or store accident investigation program.

As a member of the Asset Protection Operations Center, assist with events and critical incident response occurring at store and SSC sites. Provide CCTV video or photo extracts along with incident summaries to Department and Executive Leadership as required.

· Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration or related field and at least two (2) years’ experience in asset protection/loss prevention, forensic accounting, auditing or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Demonstrated proficiency in forensic audit tasks and investigations.
· Possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
· Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
· Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
· Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
· Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
