Southeastern College is Hiring a Student Account Manager / Corporate Bursar Near Miami, FL

The Student Account Manager oversees and handles the payment of tuition balance and compliance with College, state and federal policies and regulations. Most students do not receive full funding coverage from government loans, grants, and scholarships, therefore must arrange to pay the balance. The Student Account Manager oversees payment of this balance and ensures cash payment plans are arranged and payments are collected in a timely manner. The Student Account Manager will also assist in training the Front Desk support staff on entering enrollments, posting payments and completing daily cash reports.
BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS:
The role of the Student Account Manager is to provide ongoing remote and on site support for training, compliance and policy adherence while assisting Financial Aid to manage and ensure student cash payments, working closely with student financial services to better assist students regarding their funding and account status. This role is to ensure compliance with the college, state and federal regulations and standard accounting procedures through:
  • Student payment plans and payment methods are arranged.
  • Monitor that Student payments are up-to-date and on campus collections, cash counseling and reconciliation processes are adhered to
  • Communicate with students and Financial Aid regarding outstanding payments, revenue and cash accountability and reconciliation is performed on an ongoing basis.
  • Managing the college relationship with the 3rd party collection agencies
  • Supervise the potential graduate listing and attend Cash Flow Meetings
  • Ensuring accuracy and refunding of Title IV Credit Balances and overall student credit balance handling.
  • Ensuring Ledger card adjustments are accurate per tuition billing policies for all fees including programmatic, enrollment and registered credits.
  • Invoice 3rd party entities for tuition payment as needed.
  • Working directly with management at the Office of The Executive Director through the Student Financial Operations and Accounting departments to develop, strategize and disseminate policy and procedural changes and updates.
  • Provide support and assistance to Student Financial Operations during internal and external audits and when directed to do so by the Director of Student Financial Operations or designee.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with the Student Financial Operations and Accounting departments.
  • Review the employee portal to ensure Daily Cash Reports are uploaded on a regular basis.
  • Be on location at the Miami Lakes campus and West Palm Beach campus once, weekly.
  • Work with Financial Aid and the Campus President to track A/R by assisting with the review of in-school balances.
  • Work with Financial Aid to ensure appropriate counseling for students to arrange payments.
  • Ensuring collection, tracking and reporting of payment plans.

Oversee Tuition Billing:
  • Review transaction registers to ensure the process of enrollment and application payment collection.
  • Send monthly billing statements.
  • Run weekly balance reports to monitor credit and debit balances.
  • Run past-due reports to check on outstanding payments and expected funds to track and complete requirements for funds disbursement.
  • Assess student status changes for returning students tuition billing, adjustments and documentation to ensure compliance and accurate revenue recognition.
  • Complete and Monitor the posting of monthly tuition and educational fees for current and prior terms.
  • Train on the overall A/R management of in-school and out of school past-due accounts and determine strategy for collecting past-due payments.
Management:
  • Oversee Front Desk staff on processing enrollments and posting payments correctly.
  • Provide technical assistance as needed both on site and remotely.
  • Attend regular scheduled Cash Flow meetings and at the Office of The Executive Director.
  • Provide support to the Accounting Department and Student Financial Operations for special projects and business development activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting: sitting, working on a computer, using a telephone, communicating with coworkers and getting to and from appropriate campuses. There is an approx. once weekly travel to the West Palm Beach campus location, which will require the physical demands associated to travel which includes and is not limited to train, car and air.

This position is an on-site position with the Office of the Executive Director unless otherwise determined by the Director of Student Financial Operations and/or designee. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
The Student Account Manager oversees and handles the payment of tuition balance and compliance with College and state and federal policies and regulations. The Student Account Manager should have experience in working with clients and customers on financial issues. Managers must also be organized and detailed in their approach to work and have a customer service communication approach.

  • Must be familiar with a broad range of general accounting principles such as billing, reconciliations, and accounts receivable

Education, Experience, and Training:
At Southeastern College, The Student Account Manager must lead and assist Associate and Assistant Bursars. The Student Account Manager must also monitor and assit with tracking down delinquent student payments. Thus, it is critical that the Student Account Manager have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business degree (advanced degree is preferred) and a minimum of 5 years billing/accounting and supervisory experience, and the willingness to work with students. Masters in Finance, Business Administration or in a related field preferred.
