Primary Responsibilities and Duties (Radiology):

1. Recognize South Shore Hospital routine positions.

1. Position patients correctly.

1. Identifies all films with markers.

1. Performs all Radiology exam computer functions.

1. Perform basic x-ray surgical procedures.

1. Chooses correct exposure techniques.

1. Performs C-arm operation properly.

1. Loads laser processor with film.

1. Performs fluoroscopic procedures.

1. Explains examination to patients.

1. Research patient history

1. Operate all digital and PACS equipment.

1. Perform PACS Administrative duties as assigned or in between exams during idle times.

1. Perform all film room and clerical responsibilities.

Inter-Personal Skills – Analytical Abilities:

Properly order exams for each modality assigned.

Perform all computer functions, Meditech and Amicas.

Ability to work across all service lines and partner with key customers.

Ability to identify pathology and communicate appropriately.

Ability to change parameters based on assessment, to ensure quality imaging/service.

Monitor quality indicators and implement changes to ensure quality service.

Report equipment errors and malfunctions.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (Computed Tomography (CT):

1. Administers contrast media both orally and IV to patients as required and in accordance with department protocol and policy/procedure.

1. Works directly with Radiologist in determining protocol for both call related and unrelated procedures. Performs 3-D post processing manipulations on Workstation. Utilizes the tele-radiology equipment for off-hour interpretation of CT Exams. Sends all exam images to both Workstation and Tele-Radiology system.

1. Provides assistance in Radiology with patient lifts, performing X-Ray exams, and/or assistance with phones, computers, etc. as needed or requested.

1. Assists Radiologists and ED Physicians by identifying pathology and reports urgent findings ASAP.

1. Ensures patient and own safety by following all applicable radiation protection measures and requirements. Maintains safety regulations to ensure maximum protection to patients’, staff and employees.

1. Maintains QC on equipment. Performs daily QC tests to ensure system parameters are functioning within normal limits. Reports all variances and equipment problems appropriately.

1. Operates and is familiar with the dry view imagers in department. Makes copy of CT exams as requested or needed.

1. Demonstrates effective business conduct through behavior/performance example and by following South Shore Hospital Performance Standards.

1. Maintains patient confidentiality and follows all applicable HIPAA standards.

1. Maintains professional licensure and personal education through professional affiliations, meetings and educational seminars.

1. Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors as assigned or needed to ensure services are delivered and performed according to hospital policy and procedure as well as industry standards.

1. Is in compliance with South Shore Hospital Attendance Standards.
