Reports to: Director of Athletics Pay Grade: AP-5 Days: 226 Dept./School: Athletics Department The Assistant Athletic Director works in partnership with the Athletic Director to provide each student with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular athletic activities by maintaining, organizing, and administering the overall program of interscholastic athletics, including intramural activities, at the high school and middle school levels. The Assistant Athletic Director manages all interscholastic coaches as directed by the Athletic Director. The Assistant Athletic Director shares responsibilities to include; interviewing, training coaches, planning, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving issues. Professional Preparation and Experience:
Valid Texas teaching certificate, with physical education endorsement
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Demonstrated skills in the following areas:
Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics Curriculum
Ability to interpret data
Ability to manage personnel and coordinate district functions

Experience
Minimum 5 years successful teaching and/or administrative experience
Performance Responsibilities: Program Planning
Assist each head coach in compiling and preparing seasonal sport schedules and supplying them to the appropriate officials’ boards.
Assist the Athletic Director in managing district’s athletic program and facilities
Assist the Athletic Director with home game logistics to include: coordination with custodial staff, ticket sellers/takers, payment of officials, and handling of game receipts.
Assist the Athletic Director in establishing physical and academic eligibility requirements for participation in each sport, and verify each athlete’s eligibility
Coordinate the use of all athletic facilities by nonschool groups.
Assist in the planning, organizing, and supervision of all athletic awards programs.
Student Management:
Implement district student management policies, communicate expected student behavior related to athletics, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences on vital issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Policy, Reports, and Law:
Implement the policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education rule, UIL Rules, and local board policy in the area of athletics.
Compile, maintain, file, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Budget & Inventory:
Assist the Athletic Director in administering the athletic budget and ensuring that programs are cost effective. Ensure that all funds are managed prudently and deposited as per established business department procedures, accepted accounting practices, and appropriate record keeping.
Assist the Athletic Director in compiling budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
Assist the Athletic Director in maintaining a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommend disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary.
Personal Management:
Assist in developing training options and/or improvement plans for employees to ensure exemplary operation in the area of athletics.
Community Relations:
Articulate the district’s mission and goals in the area of athletics to community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Support athletic booster club activities.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate the performance of coaches and support staff.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
