Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

1.0 FTE

(Tentatively serving Bohemia and London Elementary)

Job Description

Help children overcome speech, language, and hearing needs that interfere with their progress in their educational program. Provide speech and language support to students with communication disorders. Responsibilities include instruction of students, case management, development of IEPs, and assessment of communication disorders.

Duties

  • Provide or direct the provision of speech and/or language therapy and services to identified students with communication disorders.
  • Assist education staff in observing and referring students with suspected communication disorders.
  • Provide individual evaluations in speech and language, as well as other areas that may be assigned, to identify students with communication disorders.
  • Provide comprehensive written report of observations, assessment results, and recommendations.
  • Participate as a specialist of communication disorders in determining eligibility.
    Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs for identified students on caseload.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to provide specialized suggestions and/or materials for use by regular classroom staff or parents in the delivery of speech/language services or generalizations of previously acquired skills.
  • Collaborate with others to complete tasks and solve problems in a positive manner.
    Communicate effectively in a courteous, tactful and professional manner.

Qualifications

A Master’s degree or higher and one of the following:

  1. Speech Language Pathology License as issued by the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology

OR (If licensed before 2015)

  1. Oregon Teaching License with Special Education: Communication Disorders endorsement and American Speech and Hearing Association, Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Language Pathology, or actively pursuing this Certificate.

Successful applicants must comply with the OHA rule on the COVID-19 vaccine mandate by either being fully vaccinated or have an accepted religious or medical exception by the South Lane School District. Salary

Salary will be determined by previous relevant experience and level of education.

The licensed salary schedule is currently being bargained so the increased salaries have not been published for the 22-23 school year. The amounts on this posting reflect 2021-2022 school year's salary schedule.
