ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Elementary classroom teachers are responsible for instruction and supervision of students. This includes differentiating instructional plans, establishing effective classroom management, and maintaining knowledge in subject areas taught and Oregon state standards. All South Lane School District teachers must meet the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as outlined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR 584-020-000 to 584-020-045). In addition, London School teachers establish an inclusive and positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and developmental level of each student. This is demonstrated by appropriate curriculum design, instructional practices, and student progress assessment.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience with elementary school-aged students;
  • Knowledge of Oregon State Standards and ability to establish aligned learning objectives
  • Strong understanding of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for academics and social/emotional/behavior
    • Knowledge and experience working in a school or district that implements the concepts of Response to Intervention (RtI);
    • Knowledge of school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS);
    • Knowledge and experience working with collaborative teams in Professional Learning Communities (PLC);
  • Strong student relationship building skills and the ability to establish a sound system of classroom routines and management founded in restorative practices and growth mindset;
  • Ability to apply a variety of instructional routines and formative practices to reach all learners
  • Experience in establishing effective rapport and positive relationships with colleagues, families, and the community
  • Interest in creating and supporting enrichment activities for students that may include before and after school programs, field trips, outdoor school activities, and other special programs that support student learning. 

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a current and appropriate Oregon Teaching License. All candidates must have training and/or experience with integrated curriculums, technology skills, collaboration and teaming skills, and be able to employ a variety of instructional strategies. Consideration will also be given to teachers with Science of Reading knowledge and training.

Salary

Salary will be determined by the teaching experience and degree level in accordance with the current salary schedule.
