South Hills Interfaith Movement is Hiring a Donor Relations Officer Near Pittsburgh, PA

Introduction:
South Hills Interfaith Movement’s (SHIM) mission is to mobilize community resources and implement sustainable programs that compassionately help neighbors meet basic needs, achieve self-sufficiency, and build community. SHIM provides food, clothing, financial aid, education, family support, and a host of other services to 8,500 people in need in Pittsburgh’s southern suburban neighborhoods. In response to the unique challenges faced by the local refugee and immigrant population, SHIM operates programming designed to support children and families in this demographic.
Job Summary: 
The Donor Relations Officer is entrusted with securing vital funds that support community initiatives and ensure the long-term success of SHIM. This role is dedicated to nurturing meaningful connections with donors, aligning their interests with giving opportunities, and ensuring their continued support and involvement in our mission. This role demands a dynamic individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, strategic acumen, and a genuine commitment to advancing SHIM's mission through philanthropic engagement.
Essential Functions:
  • Identify and qualify donors within SHIM’s donor base.
  • Develop tailored giving goals for each donor, leveraging their giving history and potential impact.
  • Develop and implement strategic cultivation plans to move prospective donors through the giving pipeline, ensuring a personalized approach that aligns with their interests, values, and capacity to give.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, regularly engaging them through personalized communications, meetings, events, and other touchpoints to deepen their connection with South Hills Interfaith Movement.
  • Identify opportunities for donor engagement and involvement, including volunteer opportunities, site visits, and participation in programmatic activities, to strengthen donor loyalty and commitment.
  • Craft personalized communication and marketing plans for individual donors, ensuring timely execution to enhance donor retention and increase contributions.
  • Collaborate closely with program staff, as well as the development and communications department, leveraging business acumen to gather project information, budgets, and develop compelling proposals that resonate with donors' interests.
  • Lead solicitation efforts by making direct asks for financial support, in alignment with established giving goals and strategies, and effectively communicate the impact of donors' contributions on advancing the organization's mission and programs.
  • Utilize data-driven insights and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of cultivation and solicitation efforts, tracking donor interactions, engagement levels, and giving patterns to inform future strategies and optimize fundraising outcomes.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, trends in philanthropy, and emerging fundraising strategies to continually refine and enhance the organization's donor cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in developing personalized contact and solicitation plans that foster donor retention and increased giving.
  • Ability to genuinely connect with donors, understand their motivations, and align their interests with the mission of SHIM.
  • Competence in acquiring and utilizing project and organizational information to create impactful proposals and provide donors with meaningful feedback on their impact.
  • Timeliness and accuracy in generating reports reflecting caseload performance.
  • Effective management of people, processes, deadlines, and budgets, adhering to SHIM's policies and procedures.
  • Aptitude for identifying challenges and finding innovative solutions to meet donor needs and organizational goals.
  • Natural inclination to build and maintain strong relationships with donors, fostering trust, loyalty, and long-term commitment.
  • Ability to cultivate positive relationships with peers and management, while maintaining a collaborative and constructive approach to problem-solving, thus upholding SHIM's mission, goals, and values.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills. Ability to speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Raiser’s Edge NXT, LinkedIn, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, SmartSheet.
  • Occasional nights and weekend hours may be required.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, English, Communications/Public Relations, Marketing, Sociology or 4 years of related full-time experience (8 years if part-time experience). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
