The West River Agricultural Center at South Dakota State University (SDSU) is looking for a self-motivated and dedicated Program Assistant I to join our team and provide administrative support for our faculty, staff and students.

The SDSU West River Research and Extension in Rapid City is the western front door to South Dakota State University and the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences (CAFES).

It is here that academics, research, SDSU Extension and professionalism come together to provide South Dakota, especially western South Dakota, with the agricultural resources and expertise that can breed personal, professional and community success.

Job Responsibilities : This position will provide support for CAFES administration, faculty and staff located in Rapid City.

This includes administrative support duties for the Assistant Dean for West River Operations, the Assistant Director of West River Research & Extension, and the Director for the Center of Excellence for Bison Studies.

Faculty support includes assisting with grants (e.g., budgets, application documents; reporting) and Extension programming (e.

g., scheduling; registration; reporting). This position will also provide secretarial support, including greeting the public, assisting with Fleet management, and working with databases.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Knowledge of :

• Computer software and systems (i.e., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Business English for professional communication
• Modern office equipment and phones

• Multi-task and handle competing project priorities
• Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Provide high quality customer service
• Compile and organize information and data
• Work as a member of a highly productive team
• Use scheduling tools and interactive calendars
