This is a Full-Time position with the Department of Social Services Child Protection Services. For more information on the DSS, please visit http://dss.sd.gov.

Duties include the transportation of parents and children; support services to Family Services Specialists, and provision of services in the homes of families receiving intervention services.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability of:

• childcare practices in relation to a safe, healthy, and supportive environment that enhances child growth and development (preferred but not required);
• establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships and demonstrate compassion, respect, courtesy, and tact when interacting with others;
• utilize a computerized data system;
• prepare clear and concise documentation, reports, and correspondence that reflect relevant facts;
• actively listen, elicit needed information and communicate information effectively and accurately;
• follow oral and written instructions;
• organize time and resources to complete assignments and meet schedules and deadlines;
• operate a motor vehicle to transport children and family members;
• lift children (up to 30 lbs.) in a safe manner;
• make appropriate and timely decisions in stressful situations and maintain objectivity.

This position will also require the successful candidate to possess a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid driver's license and be able to lift children (up to 30 lbs.) in a safe manner.

This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
