Administrative Positions for the 2024-2025 School Year:

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Department: Student Support Services

Classification: Student-Facing

Status: Full time (1.0 FTE)

Calendar: 12 months

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Teaching

Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 commensurate with education and experience

Benefits: 168 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO), paid school holidays, 50% faculty/staff tuition discount, free Extended Day care for SCCS school enrolled child(ren) a Defined Contribution benefit offered to qualified employees.

Position Summary: The Director of Student Support role requires a dynamic individual who can bridge the gap between students and faculty, fostering an environment that supports academic success for all. The director will focus both on student-facing academic intervention and the professional development of SCCS faculty to better equip them to serve SCCS students.

Primary Responsibilities: This position is specifically focused on bridging the gap between student learning, the educational experience between SCCS students and faculty while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in learning and teaching.

  • Student-Facing:
    • Implement and oversee the Academic Interventionist staff schedule and student plans.
    • Collaborate with current stakeholders (i.e. faculty, student’s family), to identify students in need of academic support.
    • Monitor, track student progress and develop, adjust plans where necessary.
    • Monitor, track Academic Interventionist plan delivery and their assigned student’s progress and adjust where necessary.
    • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student success and retention to SCCS.
    • Collaborate with faculty and/or other stakeholders to identify non-academic barriers to student success.
    • Establish clear communication processes to faculty and student’s family regarding intervention plan and expectations.
    • Perform reading, math and behavior interventions when needed.
  • Faculty-Facing:
    • Collaborate with faculty to identify areas of faculty development needs.
    • Design and implement professional development for SCCS faculty to better enhance their skills and student engagement.
    • Provide resources and tools that assist faculty in integrating academic support.
  • Communications & Reporting:
    • Communicate process, expectations and overall plan to the appropriate stakeholders (student’s family, faculty, etc)
    • Track student progress and retain necessary student assessment information
    • Oversee the Classroom Aide response to “on call” behavior calls to determine proper communication to student’s family

Supervision/Oversight responsibilities

  • Schedule and directly supervise the Academic Interventionists.
  • Schedule and directly supervise the Classroom Aides.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Education.
    • Emphasis in Special Ed. or Math is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years proven experience in student support services
  • Ability to interpret formative assessments and similar data
  • Can supply three (3) references including a previous employer who can attest to:
    • Successful experience related to the position
    • Candidate’s ability to build, maintain and restore trusting relationships with students and students’ families.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise, delegate and counsel others
  • Ability to make quick decisions, meet deadlines and work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with private Christian independent school environments is a plus.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ELA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School English Language Arts teacher to join our Middle School team for the 2024-2025 academic year. The ideal candidate will embrace the Charlotte Mason philosophy, demonstrating a deep understanding of its principles and a commitment to nurturing the intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth of each student. This position reports directly to the Director of Teaching.

Employee Status & Compensation:

Start Date: August 2, 2024

Grade Levels: 5th – 8th with a dedicated homeroom assignment

Status: 1.0 FTE; 10-month position, 40 hours/week based on class schedule

Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000 commensurate with education and qualified experience for 1.0 (or the equivalent of) full time employees

Standard Benefits: holidays, school breaks, PTO, tuition reduction for employee children

Additional benefits: May be eligible for additional benefits SCCS has to offer which can be discussed during the interview process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons incorporating living books, narration, and hands-on activities.
  • Lead 5th grade homeroom in Christian fellowship and formation.
  • Deliver lessons focused on English, writing, composition, literature and critical analysis.
  • Create a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages curiosity and a love for learning.
  • Establish strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support a collaborative and supportive learning community.
  • Integrate technology effectively into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
