POSITION DESCRIPTION

National Trainer 

Date: May 8, 2024

Principal Location: Lakewood, CO

Position Role Type: Full time/Hybrid

Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000 

Job Summary:

A Sources of Strength National Trainer must be able to quickly engage, facilitate, and work effectively with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, ages, social contexts, and cultures. The person who fills this position must be able to facilitate highly interactive and inclusive trainings that blend games and sharing stories of strength with teens, young adults, and adult groups. This position requires exceptional facilitation and public speaking skills with large groups, self-motivation during and in-between training, strong skills in working with young people, as well as aptitude for clear and professional communication. 

Sources of Strength National Trainers travel solo across the country delivering high quality, highly engaging training to adults and students. Traveling and working with various communities and cultures is essential to this position. This position requires up to 12 days of training per month and up to 15 days of travel per month (in-person or virtually during periods that are unsafe for travel). Necessary character traits include high levels of positivity, humor, humility, curiosity, authenticity, flexibility, and inclusivity. 

Additionally, Sources of Strength National Trainers must possess the ability to emotionally regulate in environments that may present conflict with personal, social, or cultural beliefs. This includes demonstrating resilience and adaptability when addressing sensitive topics or navigating challenging interactions during trainings and community engagements. Strong self-awareness and the capacity to maintain composure and professionalism in diverse and potentially contentious settings are crucial aspects of this position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Travel solo across North America providing high quality, highly engaging training to fidelity of the Sources of Strength evidence-based program 
  • Participate in all phases of training (calls, scheduling, feedback, troubleshooting, and ongoing support) both internally and externally
  • Receive and provide feedback and work collaboratively with community partners and customers, direct supervisor, colleagues, and organizational leadership
  • Actively research, learn about, and seek understanding about the diverse communities we serve independently and in collaboration with Sources of Strength staff
  • Complete all necessary administrative tasks, including email, trainer logs, expense reports, and timesheets, accurately and on time
  • Navigate and use basic audio/visual equipment, presentation software, and workplace software (Slack, Google Suite, online platforms, etc.)

  • Expertise in communicating, teaching, and facilitating with students and adults
  • Exceptional ability to regulate yourself and others in high stress situations
  • Aptitude in connection and curiosity in groups of varied backgrounds and experiences
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and relate to youth, school personnel, and local partners
  • Strong conceptual, networking, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively work multiple projects on various timelines in a collaborative and effective manner

Physical requirements: 

  • Strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19

  • Occasionally required to lift and carry 10 to 50 pounds
