At Sound Integrated Health, we strive to create a welcoming and caring environment for our staff, clients and patients. We have found that peer counselors provide a sense of connection and relatability to our patients that is unique. At SIH, peer counselors assist our medical staff and our behavioral staff in guiding patients towards the resources necessary in furthering and maintaining their recovery.

We are looking to hire for 2 people, 1 for our Tacoma location and another for Burien.

The Peer Support Professional is the agent for providing peer support and resources to individuals and their families when applicable. Such services may include, but are not limited to;

• Evaluate and screen patients to determine history of drug/alcohol use and determine level of care.
• Determine any necessary medical, mental health, or other referral needs
• Develop individualized treatment plans initially and on an ongoing basis.
• Conduct treatment plan reviews monthly.
• Conduct individual therapy sessions, facilitate group therapy and participate in weekly staffing.
• Coordinate and report to courts, probation, and attorneys as mandated
• Provide crisis intervention to patients as necessary
• Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with all regulations and laws.
• Involve patient families and/or significant others in the recovery process when appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications

• Previous experience in crisis intervention, mental health counseling, or addiction counseling is preferred
• Knowledge of behavioral health systems and resources
• Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
• Strong work ethic, time management and communication skills
• Understanding of crisis management principles
• Ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients
• Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to counseling
• Peer support certification and credential
• Agency affiliation counselor credential
• Willingness to learn and be a team player.

Note: The employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.80 per hour
