As the Vice President of Columbia Release Planning, you will manage the day-to-day release planning & production needs for Columbia Records. The Release Planning team collaborates with all Columbia Records’ departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery for all releases physical & digital worldwide. Each release has a different set of requirements & different due dates with all releases happening simultaneously. You will get each Columbia release from A (zero) to Z (released on platform).

What you'll do:

  • You will collaborate with Columbia marketing, A&R, A&R ops, Finance, BLA & Commerce teams to ensure accurate & timely delivery of all Columbia Records’ releases both physical and digital worldwide including ingestion of Columbia Records audio & video assets into our asset storage & digital delivery system and will resolve any necessary QC issues with marketing & A&R.
  • You will maintain the Columbia Records release schedule including entry into internal systems for physical & digital releases according to premiere & release plans.
  • You will maintain strict production deadlines for Columbia Records’ physical releases in conjunction with US & international supply chains & international release planners to ensure all scheduling, production & budgetary elements for the end-to-end supply chain process are accurate & in on time to make the necessary release dates.
  • You will oversee delivery of Columbia Records’ digital releases & work with digital operations to ensure all are delivered accurately & on time according to premiere and/or release timelines. You will work very closely with Columbia Records A&R ops, IPL (copyright) and Business Affairs to ensure all assets are cleared for release and properly vetted for sample review/clearance, side artist clearances as well as proper tagging on digital platforms.
  • You will oversee & supervise the Columbia Records Release Planning department: leading performance reviews, leading team meetings as needed & will assign Columbia Records’ artists across the department for release planning, label copy & international release planning functions to ensure workload balance and that priorities are being managed properly.
  • You will lead weekly Columbia Records Rep Planning meeting and monthly long term scheduling meetings with senior management and will lead breakout meetings throughout the week with other teams as needed such as creative, supply chain, Business Affairs, online marketing, commerce and video production.
  • You will represent Columbia Records in development & system implementation meetings & steering committees.
  • You will collaborate with head of US Release Planning on analysis of quarterly and yearly product volume and productivity metrics to maximize efficiencies for the department as well as to set realistic expectations for the department & the label as needed.

Who you are:

  • 8-10 years of music industry experience required
  • Organization, discretion, confidentiality, meticulous attention to detail and multi-tasking are required
  • The ability to handle and work in stressful and demanding situations & with all types of personalities is required
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences is required
  • You will have self-confidence, resourcefulness & the ability to anticipate what’s next and will proactively work to solve any issues

  • The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $150,000 to $165,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
