Overview

The Material Specialist moves, transacts, and manages inventory throughout the production floor. They maintain high awareness of inventory, making sure inventory is accurate, organized, and prepared, each day. 

Responsibilities

• Audit and execute all necessary material related ERP transactions including WO Issue, scrap, cycle count, Floor Stock and Kan-Ban
• Uses proper material handling techniques to move inventory to and from the work cells, while maintaining FIFO and 6S
• Kit and organize inventory accurately and effectively
• Accurately place inventory in correct locations
• Assist in cycle counting and location auditing
• Monitor Floor Stock Inventory locations with Manufacturing supervisors and personnel
• Operate within Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
• Meet with Shift Leaders on a daily basis to discuss issues and provide a daily plan
• Work with Cell Leaders to prioritize work within cell
• Notify inventory team when shortages or discrepancies exist

• Help lead and give direction to employees in the Assembly Department. Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product needs/acquisition, such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations
• Assist in planning production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products
• Assist in coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications
• Clean and maintain work area
• Perform back up duties for other plant employees
• Provide on-the-job training to new employees
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
