Finance Manager, North Brunswick, NJ, USA (Part-time)

Sonder Research X, a dynamic biotech company, is seeking a part-time (20 hours) Finance Manager to oversee our financial operations primarily for our Irish entities and provide oversight for our US operations. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations, including cap table management.

The Finance Manager will handle daily accounting activities, financial reporting, and maintain adherence to local and international financial regulations. This role requires a meticulous approach to financial details and a strong understanding of accounting principles to sustain the financial health of our operations. In addition to these responsibilities, the Finance Manager will manage the cap table, playing a key role in maintaining equity management and compliance.

Key Finance Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial oversight, guidance, and decision support to ensure financial health and operational efficiency.
  • Assist the CBO in various Series funding rounds through financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and execution of financial agreements and funds transfers.
  • Manage financial operations for US and Irish entities, financial closings, regulatory compliance, banking transactions and portfolio optimization.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to ensure financial accuracy, safeguard assets, and manage risk.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide updates to management.
  • Oversee cap table maintenance, equity matters, tax preparation, financial reporting, and Register of Shares management in collaboration with external accountants and corporate secretary.
  • Lead the budgeting process under the guidance of the CBO and COO, monitoring spending and providing updates.
  • Support the CBO in managing key stakeholder relationships, providing financial analysis for potential partnerships and acquisitions, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
  • Offer cross-departmental support to contribute to overall company success.

Requirements (Education, Experience, and Skills):

  • CPA required, reflecting the high level of expertise needed for financial oversight and strategic financial planning.
  • Minimum of 5 years in financial management within biotech or a closely related field, with a strong focus on operational finance.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience with cap table management and equity-related matters.
  • Experience working with international companies, particularly Irish entities, is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating financial data to various stakeholders and coordinating with senior operational and business development executives.
  • Ability and willingness to work part-time on-site (East Brunswick, Tower One Office or Hudson Yards Office in New York City).
  • Ability to adapt and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
