School Guidance Counselor:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. As a Guidance Counselor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic and emotional well-being of our students. You will provide guidance and counseling services to help students navigate their educational journey and make informed decisions about their future.
Duties:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students, addressing academic, personal, and social issues
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop strategies for student success
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans
- Assist students in setting academic and career goals, and provide guidance on course selection and college applications
- Promote cultural diversity awareness and provide counseling services that are sensitive to the needs of diverse student populations
- Collaborate with child protective services and child welfare agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of students
- Educate students on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and stress management
- Conduct academic advising sessions to help students develop effective study skills and time management techniques
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and available resources
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field
- State licensure or certification as a School Counselor
- Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Familiarity with cultural diversity counseling principles
- Understanding of child protective services protocols and child welfare practices
- Strong background in mental health counseling techniques
- Ability to provide childcare during counseling sessions as needed
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Passion for helping students succeed academically and emotionally
This is a paid position, and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
