Soltys Place is Hiring a Kitchen Specialist Near Hillsborough, NC

Seeking: 1 indivdiual, anticipated full-time schedule 7:30am – 3pm

JOB TITLE: Kitchen Specialist

ORGANIZATION: Senior Care of Orange County administers the Soltys Place Adult Day Health Program. The program provides community-based support for adults who require assistance and supervision for their daily health and wellbeing. Participation in the program fosters optimal independence, social connection, and meaningful activities for staff and participants alike.

Primary Supervisor: Operations Manager

Secondary Supervisor: Executive Director

DUTIES:

Kitchen Oversight (75%)

· Complete operational tasks such as: making coffee, doing dishes, etc.

· Comply with operational protocols for environmental hygiene (sanitizing), food service (temperature control for appliances and food), including daily documentation.

· Documentation of participant consumption percentage of fluids, snacks, and lunch (only if RN is unavailable to complete lunch percentages).

· Prepare and serve the majority of non-catered program meals: AM snack and PM snack.

· Prepare dining room for each mealtime, arranging participants appropriately and ensuring monitoring during dining.

· Ensure the kitchen is cleaned up at each mealtime and dishes prepped for the following meal. Recruit participants to assist with clean-up chores.

· Complete the daily, weekly, and monthly kitchen cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned

· Retrieve lunches as per the agreement with the Passmore Center next door.

· Ensure to make a copy of the Daily Meal Ticket, provide a copy to the Health Care Coordinator, and return the original Daily Meal Ticket to the Passmore Center.

· Ensure lunch laundry (placemats, napkins, etc.) are washed and dried daily.

· Maintain list of updated participant dietary needs, restrictions, and preferences. Plan and serve food accordingly. Ensure other staff members comply with participant dietary needs.

· Maintain list of participant allergies and serve food accordingly. Ensure other staff members are aware and conscious of allergies when prepping and serving food.

· Maintain organization of kitchen cabinets, supplies, and food.

· Work closely with Operations Manager to track, maintain, and manage center inventory such as commonly purchased items, specific snack items/ingredients, and cleaning supplies.

· Report desired purchases to Operations Manager for approval within budget guidelines.

· Work closely with Operations Manager to advocate for participant snack requests.

· Monitor for use of safe food handling practices, such as wearing gloves, maintaining safe temperatures, etcetera.

· Create an enjoyable dining experience for participants in compliance with policies and procedures.

· Report any dietary concerns to the Health Care Coordinator.

· Monitor participants, especially while dining. Verbally prompt participants to practice safe eating. Remain in the dining room with the Health Care Coordinator at lunch to monitor participants.

· Assist participants who have special mealtime needs, such as feeding or encouragement.

· Ensure trash and recyclables are disposed of properly in their respective bins.

Activity Programming (10%)

· Follow guidance and instruction from Daily Flow Coordinator or Supervisor(s) regarding daily flow and daily programming/activities.

· Communicate with Daily Flow Coordinator regarding participant engagement in daily programming/activities.

Participant Care (10%)

· Filling in as needed to assist with programming, direct care, or other participant needs.

· Assist participants with activities of daily living (ADLS) as needed with consideration of individual skills and abilities.

· Documentation of participant care, needs, changes, ADL, or other documentation.

· Build rapport and trust with participants and their families by engaging with them to learn about applicable personal preferences, life history, and interests.

· Assist participants with community mobility and safety awareness to ensure comfort and safety.

Center Care/Maintenance (5%)

· If opening or closing the program, comply with opening and closing policies and procedures.

· Assist and complete other program duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination

· Stable health status with no conditions present which would inhibit ability to work with vulnerable populations, including ability to lift 50 lbs.

· Completion of statewide background check

· Physician statement attesting to health status

· Kind, compassionate and flexible when interacting with others.

· CPR and BLS training as specified in state licensing requirements.

· Successful completion of nurse’s aide, home health aide or equivalent training course or a minimum of one-year related experience in caring for impaired adults.

· Preferred: ServSafe certification or other safe food handling certification and experience

Pay: From $17.65 per hour
