Middle School Math Teacher

The Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford is seeking an outstanding Math teacher to join our faculty for the 2024-2025 School Year.

Schechter uses a progressive multi-age model approach to education, and our school is guided by Schechter’s mission and core values of Chochmah (Wisdom), Lev Tov (Good Heartedness), and K’lal Yisrael (Unity of the Jewish People), Kehillah (Community), Mitzvot (Jewish Practice). Our faculty believes in the innate abilities of each student, and works in partnership with other members of the faculty and families to help each child grow.

  • Facilitating learning in middle school math as well as Algebra I and some Algebra II using whole group, small group and individual instruction
  • Designing hands-on, engaging learning activities that provide opportunities for students to explore and construct meaning
  • Differentiating instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners in the classroom
  • Developing a warm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
  • Helping students to develop social and emotional competencies
  • Working collaboratively with grade-level team members on programs and supporting students
  • Keeping accurate documentation of student progress
  • Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with parents about student progress
  • Master’s degree and appropriate teaching credentials or certification
  • Demonstrated success in teaching elementary school
  • A passionate, student-centered approach to teaching
  • The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Exceptional listening skills and sensitivity to the needs of others
  • A willing communicator and collaborator; an enthusiastic team player

The Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford is an independent Jewish day school located in the beautiful New England town of West Hartford, Connecticut. It is accredited by the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools. Schechter offers an exceptional, forward-thinking, student-centered education from early childhood through eighth grade.
