A director is looking for a 1:1 nurse to join their district near in the Phoenix, Arizona area. You will be assigned to a specific student who requires individualized nursing care and support throughout the school day. You will work closely with the student, the family, the school staff, and the health care providers to ensure the student's safety, well-being, and academic success.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to the assigned student according to the individualized health care plan
- Monitor and document the student's vital signs, medications, treatments, and responses
- Assist the student with activities of daily living such as feeding, toileting, hygiene, and mobility
- Accompany the student to classes, activities, and field trips as needed
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with the student, the family, the school staff, and the health care providers
- Advocate for the student's needs and rights in the school setting
- Follow state and district policies and procedures regarding school health services
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited program
- Current Arizona LPN or RN license
- Current CPR certification
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or home health
- Experience working with children with special needs is preferred
- Knowledge of common medical conditions, treatments, and interventions for children with special needs
- Excellent clinical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and environments
- Ability to handle physical and emotional demands of the job
