Location: We are seeking a Warehouse Lead for our Washington State Ferries in Bremerton.

Washington State Ferries operates the largest ferry system in the United States. Twenty-two ferries cross Puget Sound and its inland waterways, carrying more than 22 million passengers to 20 different ports of call. From Tacoma, Washington, to Sidney, British Columbia, we travel up and down the Sound, acting as a marine highway for commercial users, tourists, and daily commuters alike. The fleet is a major tourist attraction and icon of Washington state.

Principal Function:

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for supervising, coordinating and executing warehouse and delivery operations and procedures in order to ensure departmental effectiveness and efficiency so that all product, supply and equipment needs are met throughout the venue. The Warehouse Lead will provide coaching, development and training to staff members.

Under the direction of the Manager and/or Warehouse Supervisor, this individual will support Sodexo Live’s goal to be #1 in Event Hospitality through advanced planning and preparation based on forecasted attendance, and by assigning tasks and delegating responsibilities to warehouse staff. A top priority will be to ensure that the highest levels of safety, organization and sanitation are maintained throughout all warehousing and storage areas.

The successful candidate must be able to provide recommendations for improvements to the facility, equipment, machinery, and processes contributing to continuous improvement. Accountable to staff regularly performing at or above standard and to ensure progress is made to achieve business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Lead, coordinate and oversee day to day route delivery and internal warehouse operations.
• Plan and review, in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager, all delivery processes, ensuring that they meet the company standards and route location/service specifications.
• Establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities of the workers to ensure optimal shift/team logistics.
• Accountable for site Safety and Equipment proper care and use.
• Helps with inventory management in ordering, receiving, month end counting and par-level maintenance.
• Work in collaboration with Operations Management Team.
• Meet regularly with team members collectively, as well as on an individual basis, to monitor progress towards meeting objectives, tracking performance, coaching and counseling as well as recognizing team and individual successes.
• Cultivate team spirit and promote cooperation by seeking opportunities to improve internal processes.
• Address performance problems through corrective action and coach & counseling processes.
• Responsible for adherence to company rules and policies.
• Provide appropriate orientation for employees and always providing leadership and any tools and guidance necessary to perform their jobs successfully.

Qualifications/Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years lead/supervisory experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
• Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Ability to work well independently.
• Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.
• Technology aptitude for working with automated inventory system.
• Strong planning skills and effective leadership ability.
• Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs.
• Mechanically inclined to help troubleshoot minor maintenance and repair of operating equipment.
• Forklift and minor automotive knowledge a plus

Other Requirements:

• Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly quartered environment.

Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
