SOCIETY OF MANUFACTURING ENGINEERS is Hiring an Editor Near Southfield, MI

SUMMARY STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Editor is responsible for planning, developing, and producing content for print and digital products and platforms, and managing social media activities. The editor writes original content including features and columns, travels to cover industry shows and events as needed, copy edits articles, ensures that copy adheres to SME Media’s style books, manages the flow of copy within the editorial department, and coordinates and helps execute digital content and related strategies. This position requires strong organizational skills and daily execution to advance the goals of expanding readership.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with various teams throughout the organization to support existing print and digital media products, specialty publications and the development of new products.
  • Edits and writes for all print and digital media products and platforms.
  • Assures technical accuracy.
  • Obtains and verifies for accuracy appropriate drawings, charts, formulas, graphs, and tables.
  • Liaisons with contributing writers for all print and digital media products and platforms.
  • Oversees progress of contracted authors.
  • Researches, gathers, and edits illustrations and other material for articles as necessary.
  • Investigates potential new topics, based on market research, technological trends, expert interviews, etc.
  • Manages certain editorial departments and content verticals.
  • Maintains adherence to budgets and schedules.
  • Represents SME at events, conferences and tradeshows.
  • Serves as webinar and podcast host when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
