The Personal Banker is key to providing a full range of retail and consumer banking services to customers with emphasis on selling financial services to current and prospective customers, while building long-term relationships.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Identify new and existing customers’ financial service needs by observation, listening, prospecting, and profiling.
  • Seek out business development opportunities to identify prospective customers and promote bank services. 
  • Analyze customers' financial situations and provide personalized package of banking products, including loans, credit cards, and investment options, to help them achieve their financial goals.
  • Describe the features and benefits of the Bank’s services that may fill the customers’ financial service needs. Maintain detailed knowledge of deposit, loan, convenience, and non-deposit services by studying product information sheets, bulletins, and updates by attending periodic training sessions.
  • Underwrite, process, and approve retail applications including unsecured, complex closed-end and open-end mortgage products, and collateralized loan options within prescribed authorized limits, loan policy expectations, and specified time restrictions.
  • Make customer loan decisions based on current Consumer Lending Policy and based on current lending limits.
  • Proactively sell at or above sales performance goals in regards to individual goals as well as with referral goals in a team environment to Mortgage, Commercial, and Wealth Management.

Required for this position: Excellent customer service, strong problem resolution skills and a strong eye for detail to ensure accuracy as well as completeness. Firm understanding of lending and underwriting, ability to identify missing items, advanced organizational skills, ability to work under deadlines, independent thinking, analytical skills, self-motivation, strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated teamwork and business development activity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 year college degree or related work experience
  • 2 years bank lending and underwriting experience
  • Customer service and business development experience
  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail required
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems and programs with working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously, meet deadlines, and show flexibility to change direction when needed
  • Team-oriented and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization
  • Service-oriented, polite, and respectful
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to take direction and instruction and follow through independently until project completion

Some extended business hours.
