Smithbucklin and one of its subsidiary companies, SDI Meetings & Incentives, is looking for an Air Agent to join our team in Chicago. SDI Meetings & Incentives is a global-yet-boutique meetings, incentives and special events company. We’ve produced programs around the world, for groups from 10 to thousands, combining the exact right elements to support our clients’ goals and to motivate and inspire their attendees. Our clients come from a range of industries from financial services and insurance to manufacturing to medical services, supporting the executives and teams who lead their organizations’ off-site meetings and incentive travel programs.

Air Agents are expected to book airline tickets quickly and efficiently, working on several projects at one time, are results oriented, have strong time management skills and work enthusiastically in a constantly changing environment. The position entails considerable interaction with clients, team members, and other departments within SDI.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate travel and lodging for participants traveling to meetings or incentive trips
  • Develop and maintain solid relationships with travelers and staff
  • Assume booking and management for multiple clients and meetings
  • Seamlessly adapt to crisis situations, changing procedures, methods or processes
  • Utilize strong problem solving skills to troubleshoot potential challenges

Basic Qualifications

  • 3-5 years Agency and group airline ticketing experience in Sabre GDS
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Minimal travel required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work directly with clients in a responsible, professional and service oriented way
  • Experience with Aventri or Stova
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues
  • A high degree of responsibility and initiative
  • A strong attention to detail and accuracy
