The Opportunity:

Our client is in search of an Estimator, who will report to the Mining Division General Manager, to join their dynamic team. This role offers the chance to be a part of large-scale, high-impact projects, enhancing your community and beyond.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing and managing the bid process in collaboration with the Estimating Manager.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of bid documents to estimate labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits, fostering strong relationships with clients, engineers, and consultants.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to determine cost estimates during the bid phase.
  • Support the development of technical proposals and presentations.
  • Aid in preparing post-bid work plans, including procurement, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Contribute to production tracking and post-job analysis efforts.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of historical estimates and project records.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy civil, mining, construction, or a related field, with a solid understanding of general engineering applications and construction practices.
  • Proven experience in field engineering, estimating, project scheduling, and technical writing.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, civil estimating software (HCSS preferred), and scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently within strict timelines.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents, including contracts, specifications, and drawings.
  • Keen attention to detail with strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to travel overnight on an occasional basis.
  • Capability and readiness to visit underground sites, including mines and tunnels.
