SLAM! Palm Beach Middle/High School is Hiring a High School Reading Teacher (24-25) Near Beach, FL

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced High School Intensive Reading Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in literacy instruction, a passion for helping struggling readers, and the ability to implement effective strategies to support students in improving their reading skills. The High School Intensive Reading Teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering targeted reading interventions, assessing student needs, and providing individualized instruction to help students achieve proficiency in reading.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement targeted reading interventions to support students who are reading below grade level.
  • Assess students' reading abilities using diagnostic assessments and other measures to identify areas of need and set instructional goals.
  • Plan and deliver explicit and systematic reading instruction that focuses on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and other essential reading skills.
  • Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies, materials, and technologies to engage and motivate students in reading instruction.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including English language learners and students with special needs.
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment, data analysis, and progress monitoring tools, and adjust instruction as needed to support student growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement comprehensive reading intervention plans and strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders about student progress, goals, and strategies for improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student confidence, self-efficacy, and academic success.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills, stay updated on best practices in reading instruction, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and standards of professional conduct.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading/Literacy, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching license/certification in reading or literacy education.
  • Prior experience teaching reading intervention or working with struggling readers at the high school level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of reading assessment, intervention, and instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students and create a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners and promoting equity and access in education.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and a passion for helping students succeed in reading.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $51,500.00 - $60,000.00 per year
