THE ROLE

As an IoT backend Development Engineer, you play a vital role in the development and improvement of our product. Working with external contractors, you are responsible for the end-to-end development, testing, and improvement of our IoT backend solutions.

YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT BY

• Developing, and maintaining backend systems for IoT solutions, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.

• Implementing and optimizing server-side logic for handling data from Skytree’s IoT enabled devices, including data storage, retrieval, and processing.

• Developing data storage and management solutions to handle large volumes of real-time data generated by the Skytree devices.

• Implementing robust security measures to protect IoT data, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information.

• Work closely with frontend & embedded developers, services/ marketing teams to integrate backend services with user interfaces for comprehensive IoT solutions.

• Thorough testing of backend systems to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and other issues.

• Setting up DevOps deployment pipelines.

• Creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation for backend systems, APIs, and protocols etc.

• Ensuring that software/ backend development complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements (functional safety).

• Developing backend for new Skytree products, keeping in close touch with R&D and engineering teams.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Comfortable working in an agile project form, such as Scrum/kanban.

• At least 5 years of IoT server side development experience (Azure IoT would be preferable).

• Minimum HBO/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

• Experience with Azure IoT-Hub, device provisioning service and stream analytics (or similar resources in other cloud environments).

• Experience with database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as NodeJs, Python (focused on backend development).

• Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.

• Experience with Azure DevOps and version control systems such as Git.

• Knowledge of IoT communication protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP).

• Experience with machine learning

• Experience with Power BI or Azure data explorer is a plus.

• Experience in embedded IoT software development (including sensors and how they work) is a plus.

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
