POSITION SUMMARY: Design, coordinate, and submit Fire Protection drawings, hydraulic calculations, seismic brace calculations, and material/equipment schedules. Stock list projects for fabrication and approve fabrication quotes. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: • Thoroughly analyze and synthesize the content of all relevant documents and available data to establish a comprehensive scope for the assigned project, aligning with the expectations of a Designer I role. • Skillfully engage with stakeholders, including the sales manager, project manager, contractor, or owner, to request necessary information, exemplifying your ability to gather essential insights required for informed design decisions. • Methodically evaluate architectural drawings, mechanical plans, site layouts, and structural details, and perform meticulous site surveys. Simultaneously, conduct in-depth research to acquire crucial information necessary for the development of structural and mechanical elements, showcasing your dedication to thorough research. • Display adeptness in integrating diverse mechanical systems, ensuring seamless coordination with the fire suppression system, and demonstrating the capability to preemptively identify potential conflicts with other trades, reflecting your attention to detail and proficiency in system integration. • Confirm the accuracy of water-related data, underscoring your technical competence and understanding of critical design parameters. • Conduct a comprehensive review and validation of fire and building code requirements, emphasizing your commitment to adherence to regulatory standards. • Ensure unwavering compliance with NFPA standards and insurance prerequisites, underscoring your commitment to safety and industry best practices. • Methodically cross-reference the initial layout against the sales-prepared estimate or design information sheet, meticulously identifying disparities in head count or pipe quantities. Additionally, ascertain the inclusion of all major equipment stipulated by the scope estimate, showcasing your meticulousness in design validation. • Demonstrate a nuanced understanding of the contract's scope and diligently verify that layout designs align with contractual obligations, reinforcing your attention to detail and commitment to fulfilling project specifications. • Collaborate effectively with the purchasing agent by furnishing comprehensive material lists and initiating requisitions for devices from relevant manufacturer(s). This ensures seamless material procurement in alignment with installation schedules, deadlines, and specific requirements like the Buy American Act. • Display proactive communication by providing timely updates to the purchasing department, responding to changes in installation schedules or modifications stemming from change orders that influence material procurement. • Proficiently utilize specialized computer software to generate an exhaustive shop list tailored for the fabrication of system piping, underscoring your proficiency in leveraging technology to enhance design and manufacturing processes. 7.17.2023 EXPERIENCE: Designer I – Sprinkler • One to three years of experience with AutoCAD or SprinkCAD or background in mathematics. • NICET Level I or II. • Review architectural drawings, mechanical, site, structural and completes site surveys, and research essential information as required for structural and mechanical elements. • Integrate other mechanical systems to ensure successful coordination with the fire suppression system and must be able to recognize potential conflicts with other trades. • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and insurance requirements as well as all fire and building code requirements. • Provide updates to purchasing as installation schedule or change orders require modifications to meet installation schedule and deadlines and other requirements such as the Buy American Act. • Produce shop list utilizing computer software for fabrication of system piping. • Monitor and enforce safety policies and procedures. • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills. • Ability to pass various background checks. • Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle. • Desirable (but not required!):  Associate or bachelor’s degree in drafting (AutoCAD). WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Mainly inside a climate-controlled office but may require being outside in various weather conditions for field surveys. • May be required to work in confined spaces, crawl spaces, hard-hat construction sites, including unimproved sites, use hand tools, and requires the ability to stand, bend, squat, climb, and be physically able to traverse rough terrain, and scaffolding and use lifts. • Will operate a motor vehicle, climb on ladders, work at heights, operate mobile equipment and machinery, and be exposed to noise and other hazards. TRAVEL: • May require work beyond regular business hours as well as out of town assignments. SAFETY: • For the safety of the employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate on the equipment being used as well as the surroundings. • This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. • Abides by established industry, OSHA, and company safe work practices. • Maintains company property and equipment to ensure safe and proper use. • Wears approved PPE as required by certain jobs. • Identifies and communicates unsafe conditions, safety violations, near misses, and injuries to supervisor. • This role is designated as safety-sensitive due to responsibilities such as operating motor vehicles and mobile equipment, working at heights, climbing ladders, and utilizing lift equipment.

Salary: $70,450.42 - $90,000.00 per year
