Skills of Central PA (Skills) provides support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health challenges throughout central Pennsylvania. We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to work with our LPNs to ensure the health and safety of the people we support! We'd love to discuss this very rewarding position with you!

Our residential services is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant who is passionate about helping people feel better and reach their full potential. We want a pro who can effectively communicate with people we support, assist the LPNs to ensure processes are running smoothly and efficiently, and is eager to learn new skills and take on more responsibilities as they grow. This position will work in the Hanover and New Oxford area.

Responsibilities:

  • Record vital statistics of people supported in medical records.
  • Prepare people supported for examination, and transport to doctor's visits; ensure doctor's appointments are scheduled and attended timely.
  • Apply appropriate dressings and coverings to wounds and injuries.
  • Become a medicine administration trainer and train Direct Support Staff; administer medications.
  • May perform venipuncture or other laboratory collections as directed by attending physician of people supported; performing duties as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding the condition of the person and their progress and keep records of all the tasks and services performed in a n individual's home.
  • Work with the team providing supports and services to the individuals to maintain their needs, document changes and assist with care management.

About the Hours:

  • Primarily Day Shift (8 hours)
  • Overtime and flexible hours needed based upon the needs of the individual(s) supported
  • Rotating weekends
  • Rotating Holidays

About You

Requirements

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification (Required) and must be maintained.
  • 2 years’ experience (Preferred)
  • Experience working with individuals having intellectual disabilities (preferred)
  • EMR experience (Preferred)
  • Strong writing and verbal skills
  • Ability to work through interruptions, manage multiple priorities and handle stressful situations.
